Pivot Point
A pivot point is a point of rotation, it is calculated starting from the previous period high, low and closing prices. These prices are usually taken from daily charts but the pivot point can also be calculated using information from shorter timeframes. Most traders prefer to calculate pivot, support and resistance levels from daily charts and then apply those to intraday charts. Pivot points calculated using prices from shorter timeframes are less accurate signals as a rule.
